Recyclable: Megatex

Our Megatex 100% PP (Polypropylene) wipes are Recyclable (just so long as your local Authority recycles). By far our most popular, Non woven Megatex cost effective , Non-woven Polyamide textured thermo bounded surface. Ideal for rough surfaces or cleaning heavy soils. Method of construction.

Layers of spunbond and meltblown Polypropylene fibres are bonded together in a high heat process before a hydrophilic coating is applied. This material is 100% synthetic.

High Strength in both directions – across and along the wipe
Very Low linting – low risk of leaving contaminating fibres on surfaces
Excellent solution retention – ensuring even wetness throughout the wipe
Efficient Solution release – active wipe ingredients are transferred to the surface

You can recycle this plastic if your Local Authority mentions:

Packing tape
Plastic Straws
Take away tubs
Ketchup bottles
Plastic picnic ware
Carrier bags – Local authorities often don’t collect carrier bags but can be
recycled in local supermarkets
Polypropylene can be recycled into brooms, brushes, garden rakes and
plastic trays.

LDPE plastics:

More recycling programs are beginning to accept LDPE plastics. A very clean and safe plastic, LDPE is found in household items like plastic wrap, grocery bags, frozen food containers and squeezable bottles. Recycled LDPE is made into such items as garbage cans, panelling, furniture, flooring and bubble wrap.

The bags in which the wipes are packaged is also Recyclable
Recycled plastics can be put to good use

Another reason why plastic recycling is important is because it can put to good use rather than unnecessarily ending up in landfall. Recycled plastic can be used to create items such as shampoo bottles, oil funnels, floor tiles and traffic cones among many other products.

Moreover, there are many innovative ways to use recycled plastic. For example, recycled plastic can be used for creating construction decks, sports clothing, vehicle interiors and other products.

As you can see, plastic can live many lives so why on earth would you cut its life short – hurting the environment in the process?

Plastic recycling conserves energy and the environment:

Finally, my last reasoning as to why plastic recycling is important is this. For every 1 ton of plastic that is recycled, it is estimated that 7 yards of landfill space is conserved. This is significant, especially considering the fact that we’re running out of landfill space rapidly.

Moreover, by recycling plastic, 80% of the total energy that goes into manufacturing new plastic products is conserved. The manufacturing of plastic involves the use of petroleum and other fossil fuels. Not only are these fuels scarce, but also the process of manufacturing plastic takes place in an environmentally harmful manner. By recycling, we can reduce the amount of plastic being manufactured and help the environment.

Stanford University estimates that recycling 1 ton of plastic conserves 7,200 kilowatt hours of electricity. That’s enough electricity to run an average household for 7 months! We’re sure you can now see that plastic recycling is extremely important. Therefore, please make sure to treat your plastics properly. Reduce the amount of plastics that you use and if you have to dispose plastic at all, be sure to recycle it correctly.

Dispose of used wipes in correct bins provided.

At The Hygiene Company, we are committed to on going Innovation, Design & Manufacture which includes our commitment towards the ongoing development of environmentally friendly products.

It has always been, and remains, our policy to provide the highest quality products, judged not only on their convenience and effectiveness as a multi-purpose antibacterial wipe, but also on their environmental impact and this continues to be a matter of the highest ongoing importance.

As part of our environmental efforts, we are offering marking labels for your facility users, so as to be able to identify the most appropriate means of disposing of used wipes depending on what disposal facility options are available. We are only too aware of the ease at which recyclable products can simply be added to general waste through lack of such marking.

Recyclable – where this is opportunity for recycling of product with plastic content, this is the most appropriate and eco-friendly means of disposal. If you are able to re-cycle please request labels marked ‘recyclable’ and we will be very pleased to provide you with appropriate labelling to ensure that products supplied from The Hygiene Company are, where possible recycled.

We now producing and have in stock a range of Biodegradable wet wipe products. Whilst these products are mostly disposed of along with general waste, they are decomposed by bacteria and other living organisms and are kinder to environment. If there is dedicated option for disposing of Biodegradable products, then Biodegradable wipes should be disposed of using this option.

Small efforts over time really can make a difference!

At The Hygiene Company we are fully committed to a cleaner, safer, and happier environment.
